Throws Camp at Brown University July 30-31, 2022

Brown Track & Field Throws will be hosting a two-day Throws Clinic at Brown University on July 30 and 31st.  CLINIC INFO & SIGN UP

We are located in Providence Rhode Island and are in the Ivy League. The clinic takes place at Brown Stadium on Brown University’s campus. The address is 400 Elmgrove Ave, Providence, RI 02906. The events that we will be coaching are: shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer. It runs from 9 AM to 4 PM on each day. Check-in registration begins at 8:00 AM on Saturday and 8:30 AM on Sunday, and is open to any and all coed, ages 11 - 18 by the start of camp. The fee is $300.00 and will increase to $350.00 on July 25.

It is a commuter camp and dorm housing is not provided, although lunch is provided each day. If you are from out of town the closest hotel is here.

We are lucky to have M-F Athletic on board providing implements for us to throw this year!

Coaches will include:

Myself (Craig Kinsley): Brown Throws Coach, 2012 Olympian, NCAA Champion

Sean Furey: Two-time Olympian, three-time US Champion, World  Championships Finalist

Bryan Powlen: US Championships Discus Runner Up

Amanda Gricus Powlen: Central Connecticut State University Throws Coach, US Championships competitor

Wilfredo De Jesus Elias: Northeastern University Throws Coach

Whether you are interested in attending Brown University or you just want to hone your technique this is an opportunity to learn from Olympians and elite athletes-turned coaches!

The clinic will be entirely outdoors unless the weather is dangerous. This event is rain or shine. In the event of thunder and lightning, we’ll delay the clinic until the weather passes, or if it looks like it will last a while we will shelter in the stadium locker rooms while doing a classroom session so we can continue learning about the throws. Either way, come prepared with rain gear or be prepared to get soaked.

Here’s what you need to come prepared:

Throwing shoes (if you have them)

Rain gear

Water bottle

Throwing implements (if you have them, be sure they are labeled with your name. Totally optional because M-F Athletic will have plenty for you to use)

Sweatpants and sweatshirt

Running shoes or other athletic shoes

You can sign up here: CLINIC INFO & SIGN UP

Space is limited so if you're interested, get on it!

I wish you all luck in the recruiting process and any other meets you may have this summer.

As always, throw far,

Coach Craig

Craig Kinsley

Craig Kinsley is an NCAA Champion and an Olympian.
